Hi, I’m Northcap. That’s not my real name, of course—but it’s the one I go by here at Rustyautos.com
Why the mystery? Simple. I work full-time for one of the largest roadside breakdown companies in the country. I’ve been in this game for over 20 years, and I see firsthand what most drivers never get to see: what really breaks down, how it happens, and—most importantly—how to avoid it.
Before life on the roadside, I spent years as a dealership mechanic for GM. Trained, certified, and elbows-deep in engines before most people have their morning coffee. I’ve rebuilt more engines than I can count and rescued more stranded motorists than I can remember. And through it all, one thing’s stayed the same: I love cars. Always have.
I own several classic cars (yes, they all run), and I’ve been wrenching on some of them since I was old enough to use a socket set.
This site gives me a place to share that insight—without compromising my day job. I stay anonymous, not because I have something to hide, but because I want to keep helping people both on the roadside and here.
At Rustyautos, I’ll be sharing:
🔧 What I’ve seen break down this week
🚗 Which cars hold up (and which ones don’t)
🛠️ DIY tips, maintenance truths, and roadside wisdom
Welcome to the under-the-hood truth.
